Can I split a Legion when it moves and leave some units behind?
The rulebook says you need not move all figures and can split the Legion; replies add the timing limits.

Yes. You do not have to move every figure; a Legion can be split at the start of a move, but not partway through a multi-area move. Once split, the halves count as two different Legions, so an action moving two different Legions can move both, and a Leadership move needs a Leader with each half. Even the enemy Legion moved by a card like Sandtides can be split by the normal rules.
