Does a Surprise Attack bonus last the whole combat or only the first round?
The designer said the rulebook is mistaken and the bonus is first-round only.

Only the first round. An earlier rulebook draft read as if it lasted the whole combat, which the designer called a mistake. Only the attacker may discard Planning cards for dice in that round; after round one the attack is no longer a surprise.
“This is a mistake in the rulebook, sorry! The surprise attack bonus lasts only for the first round of combat.”
