When are Deployment tokens revealed in a battle, and when is the stacking limit applied?
The rulebook has the tokens flip at the start of the battle, before round one.

At the very start of the battle. Revealed Deployment tokens turn into units at once, units over the stacking limit of six are removed immediately (the owner picks which), and only then do players discard cards for dice and roll. You cannot hold tokens back to refill losses mid-battle.
