The publisher's reply, relayed by a player, says relative clues are legal as long as they do not refer to where the words are placed. Many players disagree on spirit grounds. Clues that point to position, like 'the other' or 'to the right of the previous hint', are not allowed, and a clue that works only by elimination is legal but risky.
