Ushering moves the Ballgoer tokens, not the investigator. A killed Ballgoer is removed, and when the Elder One advances only facedown Ballgoer tokens in the spaces where a Sorcerer was just turned face down are shuffled. They can be attacked only if a Mythos card turns them into Cultists.
