When opposing discs are on the board, must my shot touch one of them?
The rulebook requires contact with an opposing disc.

Yes — you must contact at least one opposing disc, either directly or by knocking a friendly disc into it. Touching is enough; the opposing disc does not have to move. If you miss, your disc and the friendly discs it touched are removed.
