Can I deliberately knock my own disc into the ditch instead of hitting an opponent's disc?
Several replies lean toward yes, but older replies disagreed and there is no official ruling.

Players generally say yes: the must-hit rule turns on a shot attempt that cannot really be policed, so ditching your disc is accepted tactics when a hit would cost you discs. A 2025 post notes tournament wording was revised so it no longer demands a hit. This is a player view, not a ruling.
