How are Cotton, Tobacco and Sugar cane scored at the end?
The designer answered this directly in 2017, and the rulebook text agrees.

Each unit on your fulfilled contracts scores 3, 4 or 5 VP depending on rarity across all players: the most imported good is worth 3, the next 4, the least imported 5. On a tie in amount, Cotton counts as rarest, then Tobacco, then Sugar cane. A type nobody imported still counts as the rarest, so the other two then score only 4 and 3.
