Do I choose which tunnel to leave by before I reveal the new tile?
Several players read the rulebook's wording this way; some tables play otherwise and no official ruling states it.

Yes — you commit to the tunnel first, since moving along it is what lets you discover the tile. You can back out only if you cannot actually enter the new tile, for example you lack the Boots or Lockpicks. Some tables pick an exit after seeing the tile, but the rule is written the other way round.
