What do the fist and shield numbers on enemies mean?
One reply explains the numbers; the rulebook defines Attack and Defense Values and simultaneous damage.

The shield number is the Defense Value: the total damage you must deal to kill it. The fist number is the Attack Value: how many of your warriors you discard each round, before Shields reduce it. It is applied even in the round you win.
