What exactly does a Weapon do, and can I use every pip as Battle?

Spending a Weapon in Prelude means that this turn you may spend any of the pips on your played card as Battle, as if it said 'or Battle'. It doesn't add any actions, but it applies to every pip, so one Weapon can turn a 3-pip card into three Battles, in any order. Extra Weapons don't add more.
