Can I cook parents or newborns during the breeding phase?
The rulebook states this explicitly and the designer confirmed it, calling it the official declaration.

No — you may not turn the parent animals or the newborn into food during the breeding phase. If you want to free room for a newborn, cook a surplus animal in the feeding phase before breeding.
