Eleven cards: the 5 class-specific starting cards, plus 3 Basic Move and 3 Basic Attack cards. The class feature starts on your player board rather than in the deck, and no equipment is in the deck until you earn loot. A starting Wizard, for example, runs 5 Basic Attacks, 3 Basic Moves, 2 Fireballs and a Teleport, with Arcane Shield slotted as the class feature.
