How do Diplomacy tokens work at conflict time?

You must use a Diplomacy token at the next Military Conflict, even if you are stronger, and you discard one token per conflict even if you hold several. You fight neither neighbour and take no tokens, so your neighbours face each other instead. If only two players take part, they fight once.
